If you want to know the effect this terrible disease had on Europe then you will be interested in this article.
In the prosperity of the middle ages, millions of people prospered but with a terrible price. Unknowing a disease that kills millions is going through trade routes infecting everyone and sparing no one. With the hundreds of dead bodies piled on the streets of Europe, the disease continues to kill; unknowing the Black Death enters Europe. Three major effects of the Black Plague on Europe were; millions of deaths, lost of employments, as well as economic lose, and social disorder. I will first talk about the millions of deaths that happen in Europe, then I will continue talking about the unemployment lost, and last I will talk about the social disorder that happened in Europe.
Due to the millions of deaths, because of the Black Plague, wealthy landowners didn’t have enough workers causing them to go bankrupt and lose their land. Due to the lack of people riots broke out, all throughout Europe, causing damages to cities and villages alike. Due to this pheasants wanted rights they didn’t have before. Also the inflation of money caused many wealthy businesses to collapse. With so many skilled workers gone guilds opened their doors to none skilled farmers, this allowed poor families to prosper and have luxuries they never before imagined.
Although the plague benefited the economy it also destroyed the way of life for many wealthy people and craftsmen causing the lost of some skilled jobs. Italy’s economy crashed. All the business closed their doors. All around Europe the trade market crashed due to the attempts to stop the plague. All the ships were turned backed for the fear of infection. Due to the riots companies and wealthy people goods were stolen. The inflation of European coins caused the rich to become paupers, all of the land once used to farmed turned back to how it was before, thus making it unfarmable. King Richard 2nd had to grant pheasants freedom from manors leading toward agricultural failure.
The last major effect The Plague had on Europe was public disorder; because public officers have died of the plague many of the citizens went mad and did as they wished. At the time of the Plague, people where so scared of dying many went mad. Crime rate increase by 3folds. People would take and use anything they found. Young girls were raped on the streets, as well the rich being robbed at every corner.. Due to the lack of law people broke into homes destroying them. Shops, banks and homes were robbed during broad day light. Thief’s lurked behind every corner and behind bodies. As people fled the cities the manors located in the country side caught the plague.Due to the deaths, the black plague created, Europe both prospered and failed economically. The black plague caused many business owners to become bankrupt due to the lack of law, riots, workers, and money. The plague caused many rich and prosperous cities to fall, most who didn’t recover again, for the next century.
Thanks to the black plague though peasants managed to become free and some became quite wealthy. Although the Plague was disastrous it marked the end of an old era and marked the start a new era. An era of prosperity and scientific advancement.
The final Curious @ phrase:
“It would be naive to think that the problems plaguing mankind today can be solved with means and methods which were applied or seemed to work in the past. . .”
( Mikhail Gorbachev)
